The Chairman of Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Iliya Jibu, has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the murder of a farmer, Adamu Sale. Sale was allegedly killed recently while working on his farm in Gidan Kye, Sarkin Kudu, within Ibi Local Government Council.
Speaking to journalists via telephone yesterday, Jibu expressed concern over the killing and pledged to pursue the case until justice is served. βI wonβt sleep until justice prevails.
How can an innocent farmer go to his farm to struggle for his livelihood and be killed while working? βThis is indeed unacceptable. His killers must be brought to book.
We love each other, and no one can take the law into his or her own hands,β he said. The chairman criticised the conduct of some security operatives in the area, alleging that their actions undermine the peace efforts of Governor Agbu Kefas.
βWe were reliably informed that those who masterminded the killing of Adamu Sale were initially arrested but later released, and even shielded by some security personnel to return home.
βIt was only after we went out of our way that we succeeded in getting them re-arrested. We will never give room for criminals to continue to thrive in our place,β Jibu stated.
He identified the arrested suspects as Nanfan Nimmak, Amos, and Pastor Volnap, all said to be from the Tarok ethnic group of nearby Plateau State. Jibu also assured residents that Ibi council would not become a safe haven for kidnappers, bandits, or other criminal elements.
