A truck driver identified as Bashiru Saidu Olawale, popularly known as Elepo, has been confirmed as a non-cultist in the recent cult-related killing that occurred in Atan Ota, Ogun State, on Sunday.

According to an investigative report by Naija Confra, Elepo, who hailed from Ikare, Ondo State, was mistakenly gunned down during a violent clash between members of the Aye (NBM) and Eiye (ACN) confraternities. The report clarified that the deceased had no known affiliation with any cult group.

Sources revealed that Elepo was in the company of a close friend, identified only as Os, an alleged member of the Eiye group and the actual target of the attack. Both men were said to be staff at a paper packaging company located near Obasanjo Farm along the Owiwi–Abeokuta Expressway.

Witnesses said the duo had stepped out to watch a football final when the incident occurred. Elepo’s companion reportedly walked away to take a phone call moments before the Aye group launched an assault, leading to the fatal shooting of Elepo.

The Eiye confraternity has also confirmed that Elepo was not their member, further affirming his innocence.
