Motorists in Lagos on Monday, March 31, were met with an increased petrol pump price from N925 per litre to N935 per litre.
Politics Nigeria gathered that this follows an increase in the landing cost of petrol and a stop to the sale of products in naira to the Dangote refinery.
Also part of the factors that could have led to the increased pump price is a delay in the negotiation on the naira for crude oil policy.
Recall that last week, the landing cost of fuel hit N843.28 per litre from N797 per litre.
Motorists who spoke on the matter expressed their frustration over the instability in the prices of petroleum products.
A motorist who simply identified himself as Lateef said, “This is too much for a country that its main natural resource is crude oil. Nigeria doesn’t just have crude oil, we have it in abundance and yet we are suffering.
“Today is high, tomorrow it’s low, you can’t even plan your life with this kind of thing,” he said.
A taxi driver, Lateef said the inconsistency in the fuel pricing has continued to affect his business.
“Every day you come out to work, you have to first calculate your gains to know what price you’ll tell passengers. And sometimes they even get angry at us thinking we just enjoy changing transport fare, CONTINUE READING ” he added.
