President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that his administration is effectively managing the rising cost of food, leading to a decrease in hunger across the country. His remarks came during a Sallah visit from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his delegation at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking on Sunday, Tinubu emphasized that his government’s economic policies have helped stabilize food supply despite inflationary pressures. “Today, we are experiencing greater peace, and security is strengthening. There is growing satisfaction with our progress. The cost of food is decreasing, and hunger is reducing. People can now go to the market and conduct business more easily,” he stated.
Tinubu attributed recent improvements to policy adjustments, including the removal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA). According to him, this decision has enabled faster development in critical areas. “I focused on revitalizing rural areas. The previously abandoned residence of the Vice President has been restored. Health centers are being rehabilitated, and medical facilities in the FCT are receiving upgrades. Schools are also benefiting, with renovations and better furnishings. Thank you, Wike,” he added.
The President also highlighted security improvements, stating that a safer environment has allowed businesses to thrive. He credited his administration’s efforts for the relative peace in many parts of the country, which in turn has positively impacted food availability and affordability.
