The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has invited the Sole Administrator of the state, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retired), to appear before it for an interactive session scheduled for Thursday.
The invitation was announced by the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi (Jnr), in a statement issued on Wednesday. According to Rotimi, the decision was made during the committee’s inaugural meeting held the same day, following its official inauguration by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Rotimi stated that the meeting served as a platform for members to deliberate on initial reports and emerging developments in Rivers State since Vice Admiral Ibas assumed office.
“In line with its constitutional mandate to conduct full legislative oversight under Section 11(4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Committee resolved, among other matters, to invite the Sole Administrator for a comprehensive interactive session,” the statement read.
He added that the session aims to assess the situation in the state and ensure the House is well-informed in carrying out its oversight responsibilities.
The Sole Administrator is expected to appear before the committee on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM, in Room 414 of the House of Representatives New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja. Continue>
