The Presidency has dismissed reports circulating on social media and lesser-known blogs that Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, was denied access to the Presidential Villa, describing the claims as “fabricated falsehoods” aimed at stirring tension within the nation’s leadership.
In a statement released on Saturday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), the report was labeled as a “feeble attempt to traduce the person and office” of the Vice President.
“Nothing of the sort ever happened,” the statement read. “The publication alleging that armed military units blocked the Vice President from accessing the Villa is not only baseless but also the wildest expression of wishful thinking.”
The Presidency suggested the report was part of a coordinated disinformation campaign designed to mislead the public and portray discord within the highest levels of government.
This follows recent false reports about campaign posters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, allegedly being circulated without official sanction — another claim the Presidency has since debunked.
Nkwocha emphasized that the relationship between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima remains strong and cooperative, with both men fully committed to the nation’s development.
“The Vice President remains focused on his duties and on supporting the President in achieving the aspirations of Nigerians,” the statement added. “He does not have the luxury of time for distractions, particularly those born of the imagination of individuals intent on creating smoke where there is no fire.” CONTINUE READING>
The statement concluded by thanking Nigerians who have shown continued support for the administration and urged the media and public to seek information from credible sources and treat sensational claims with caution.
“No amount of falsehood or manufactured tension can shake the foundation of our democratic mandate,” Nkwocha affirmed.
