The announcement was made on Thursday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where senior party officials described the development as a “strategic and welcome expansion of the progressive family.”
Governor Oborevwori, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), becomes the first sitting opposition governor to switch sides under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“We are pleased to welcome Governor Oborevwori and Senator Okowa to the APC. This is a homecoming for true patriots who are passionate about delivering good governance to their people,” said an APC official familiar with the negotiations.

Senator Okowa, who served as Vice Presidential candidate for the PDP in the 2023 general election, has not made a public statement yet, but sources close to him say his decision was driven by a “desire to remain politically relevant in national development.” Read.. Full… Details
