The political realignment in Delta State gained momentum on Thursday as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the state’s newly minted member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), arrived in Abuja to finalize arrangements for his official reception into the party.
Governor Oborevwori, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
According to sources close to the governor, he is scheduled to meet with the APC National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of a Mega Welcome Rally slated for Monday, which will formally usher him into the APC fold.
The rally is expected to draw top party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, key South-South stakeholders, and supporters from across the country.
Speaking briefly to reporters at the airport, Keyamo described the governor’s entry as “a homecoming that will reshape Delta politics and solidify APC’s hold in the South-South.”
