Herder Killed, 40 Cows Rustled by Suspected Bandits in Taraba

A 30-year-old herder, Muazu Anaruwa, was killed and 40 cows rustled by suspected bandits in Kogon Dutse village, located in the Old Muri district of Taraba State.

The incident, which occurred on April 22, was confirmed after Muazu’s father, Alhaji Audu Anaruwa, reported that his son had gone out to graze their cattle but never returned home.

A search was launched, and police operatives later discovered Muazu’s body in a nearby grazing area with what appeared to be a bullet wound. All 40 cattle were missing.

Local sources described the attack as a clear case of banditry and cattle rustling. The body of the deceased was taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre in Andami, where medical officials confirmed his death. He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Taraba State Police Command stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators, with support from local hunters and vigilante groups forming part of the response strategy.
