
According to multiple reports , the Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday has foiled an arms procurement plot in Delta State, recovering 50 AK-47 rifles, six pump-action shotguns, and over 3,000 rounds of ammunition.
The agency arrested several suspects, including an Itsekiri serving as a Major in the British Army, who allegedly procured the weapons at the behest of an individual named Collins.
The suspects were apprehended in a covert operation near Asaba, Delta State, and the British Army officer was intercepted at the Lagos airport as he attempted to flee to the United Kingdom.
The DSS suspects the arms were intended to instigate unrest in Warri, possibly in connection with the delineation of wards and polling units in the Warri Federal Constituency.
A traditional ruler is also under investigation in connection with the matter.
The DSS has pledged a thorough and transparent investigation, vowing to hold accountable those found plotting tribal conflicts.. CONTINUE READING
