Peter Obi Silent on Social Media Following Criticism From Governor Sanwo-Olu- Reno Omokri

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has been noticeably absent from social media since Sunday, sparking speculation after Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu publicly challenged his legacy with pointed criticism.

Obi, known for his active online presence and frequent posts on national issues, has not made any updates on his verified social media accounts for three consecutive days — a break from his usual routine of daily engagement.

The silence follows remarks from Governor Sanwo-Olu, who accused Obi of failing to deliver tangible infrastructural development during his tenure as governor. Sanwo-Olu alleged that Obi did not build a single nursery, primary or secondary school, university, or standalone hospital throughout his eight years in office.

Political commentator Reno Omokri was among those who pointed out the former governor’s online absence, suggesting Obi had gone into retreat following the criticism.

“Peter Obi has posted on social media every day for the last two weeks, sometimes even twice a day,” Omokri said on Wednesday. “But after Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu fired him with factual and detailed data… he has not posted anything since Sunday.”

In a satirical tone, Omokri added, “Maybe he has gone to hide in Indonesia, his new favourite country.”
