The Nigerian Senate has announced plans to host a two-day National Security Summit, aimed at confronting the country’s growing security challenges with a multi-stakeholder approach.
The summit, according to Senate leadership, will bring together representatives of the Federal Government, state governors, security experts, and traditional rulers from across the nation to develop coordinated strategies for combating insecurity.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized the urgent need for national collaboration in addressing threats ranging from terrorism and banditry to kidnapping and communal violence.
“This summit will offer a platform for all tiers of government, security agencies, and community leaders to engage in frank dialogue and offer practical solutions to Nigeria’s worsening security crisis,” Akpabio stated.
The event is expected to explore:
- Intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration,
- Community-based security initiatives,
- Role of technology and surveillance,
