Omoyele Sowore Blasts JAMB Registrar, Calls for Resignation and Prosecution Over UTME Glitch, Tragic Death

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has issued a strong condemnation of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, following the tragic suicide of a 19-year-old UTME candidate.

Reacting to Prof. Oloyede’s public display of emotion, Sowore, via his official X handle, said:

The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (@JAMBHQ) Prof. Oloyede bears responsibility for the organization’s egregious errors, which have devastatingly claimed a young life. Shedding crocodile tears is not a remedy for these infractions.”

“As a first step, he should resign, followed by a thorough investigation and possible prosecution for manslaughter. Moreover, JAMB must be scrapped.”#RevolutionNow CONTINUE READING

This statement comes after JAMB admitted that a technical glitch affected 157 centres during the 2025 UTME, which resulted in disrupted examinations and significantly poor results for many candidates. JAMB has since announced a resit for affected candidates starting May 16.
