Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has issued a strong warning to members of the State Executive Council, declaring that any commissioner who fails to adhere strictly to official protocols during his engagements will be immediately dismissed from office.
According to a report by Channels TV, Governor Eno made the declaration during an unscheduled visit to the Judiciary Village project site in Uyo on Friday. The governor expressed deep dissatisfaction with the growing trend of negligence and disregard for official procedures by some cabinet members.
The Governor emphasized that his commissioners and special advisers are part of his “first eleven” and must take their roles seriously. He condemned the practice of abandoning official events or failing to accompany him back to his office or lodge after state functions.
“It is mandatory for my commissioners to ensure they take me back to the office or the lodge, because if I stop by anywhere, there can be issues that will be raised. So the Commissioner in charge of that will attend to me.”, he said.
Governor Eno recalled his own experience as a former commissioner, stating that he never left his Governor behind, regardless of the circumstance. He warned that any commissioner who fails to show up when needed, especially during impromptu stops, will be relieved of their duties on the spot.
