Wike Rules Out 2027 Presidential Bid, Says Tinubu Will Win Again

Impeachment Loom: Rivers Governor Fubara Given Fresh Ultimatum To Resign

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared that he will not contest in the 2027 presidential election, stating his respect and political alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during an interview with the BBC News on Saturday, Wike said, “I will not contest again. I cannot contest against someone (Tinubu) whom I work with. Who will win [in 2027] except him?”

In the same breath, Wike addressed the political crisis in Rivers State, referring to Governor Siminalayi Fubara as his “boy” and dismissing speculations of a personal feud between them.

“That boy (Fubara) is my boy, my son. How can I fight a battle with him? The people I am fighting are those who want to steal what they haven’t worked for,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions within the state’s political landscape, and his statement is seen as both an endorsement of Tinubu’s reelection prospects and a move to clarify his position within the ruling party.

Wike’s comments are expected to stir political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly regarding internal dynamics within the APC and Rivers State CONTINUE YOUR READING
