Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that strategic political discussions are underway to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the Arewa TechFest in Katsina on Sunday, El-Rufai stated:
“Yesterday at 8 PM, there was a very important meeting of the coalition we’re putting together to ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos continue…
The remark, seen as a bold political declaration, suggests El-Rufai may be rallying forces across party lines to forge a strong opposition bloc against the incumbent president.
However, he also gave credit to some members of Tinubu’s cabinet, notably Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.
“We will still keep Bosun Tijani, we will still keep the minister because he is doing good work,” El-Rufai added, acknowledging Tijani’s performance in office.
The statement has stirred political circles, potentially signaling new alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
