Tensions have escalated in the United States as former President Donald Trump has reportedly deployed 2,000 troops to Los Angeles, following a wave of public unrest triggered by intensified federal immigration enforcement raids.
The troop movement comes as protesters flood the streets in response to what activists are calling “targeted crackdowns” on immigrant communities across major U.S. cities. In Los Angeles, clashes between demonstrators and federal agents have grown increasingly volatile over the past 48 hours.
The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed a series of high-impact raids in California, aimed at detaining undocumented immigrants with prior deportation orders or criminal records. However, civil rights groups argue that the sweeps are disproportionately affecting law-abiding residents and tearing families apart.
“This militarized response only inflames community tensions and violates basic human rights,” said a spokesperson for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
