Tech billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has expressed regret over some of his recent social media posts targeting former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying in a statement that “they went too far.”
Musk, known for his outspoken presence on X (formerly Twitter), made the admission last week during a private conversation that has since been confirmed by sources close to the matter.
The posts, which stirred significant backlash and political debate, were widely viewed as unusually sharp — even by Musk’s standards — prompting concern from both allies and critics.
While Musk did not specify which comments he was referring to, the entrepreneur acknowledged the need for greater restraint in public discourse. “I’ve said a lot of things — some of them shouldn’t have been said. They went too far,” Musk reportedly remarked.
The development marks a rare moment of reflection from the billionaire, who has become increasingly active in political and cultural debates, especially in the lead-up to the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
As of press time, there has been no official response from Donald Trump or his representatives.
