President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has openly praised Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and hinted at a possible political crossover, saying he would be warmly received if he decides to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the commissioning of the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge and the Katampe-Jahi-Mabushi Link Roads in Abuja on Friday, Tinubu commended Wike’s performance and described him as a committed public servant.
“We have somebody in Nyesom Wike. He is not a member of my party, not yet, but the day he changes his mind and registers with the progressives, we will welcome you,” the President said.
The statement, made in the presence of top government officials and political stakeholders, has fueled fresh speculation about Wike’s future in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he has been a major figure.
Wike, known for his decisive role in the 2023 general elections and his cross-party alliances, has so far remained non-committal about switching parties. However, his close working relationship with President Tinubu and key APC figures has continued to draw national attention.
