News Flash: President Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Benue Visit Over Yelwata Killings

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the nation’s capital following his high-profile visit to Benue State in response to the recent Yelwata killings that have claimed numerous lives and reignited national concern over insecurity in the region, Ondopress reports

Upon arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the President was received by top government officials, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Imo State Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters Ibrahim Kabir Masari.

President Tinubu’s visit to Benue was marked by a town hall meeting where he issued strong directives, including the formation of a Council of Elders, allocation of land for ranching, and a call for unity among citizens and traditional leaders to end the cycle of violence.

The President condemned the killings as “barbaric” and charged security agencies to act swiftly and decisively in arresting and prosecuting all perpetrators, regardless of affiliation.

His return to Abuja signals a continuation of top-level security deliberations and follow-up on peace-building efforts initiated during the Benue visit.
