A combined team of Nigerian Army troops under Operation Hadin Kai and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) successfully intercepted a Boko Haram logistics movement along the Gashua–Buni Gari axis, neutralising one terrorist in the process.
Security sources who spoke with OndoPress correspondent, Zagazoma Makama, revealed that the operation was executed following credible intelligence about insurgents attempting to transport supplies through the route.
The troops, currently engaged in counterinsurgency operations in the area, engaged the terrorists in a brief but effective encounter. One insurgent was reportedly neutralised, while others fled the scene, abandoning vital equipment.
Recovered from the scene were a motorcycle and other logistic items believed to be intended for Boko Haram cells operating in the region.
“The swift response of the soldiers and local vigilantes disrupted what could have been a significant supply mission for the terrorist group,” one military source noted.
Military authorities have reiterated their commitment to sustained patrols and intelligence-driven operations to deny insurgents freedom of movement and cut off their supply lines in the North-East.
The security situation in the area remains stable, with increased troop presence to deter further terrorist activities.
