Usoro Akpabio, nominee for the position of Managing Director of the newly proposed South-South Development Commission (SSDC), has pledged a balanced and issue-driven approach to development across the six states of the region.
Speaking during her Senate screening on Wednesday, Akpabio emphasized that the commission will prioritize infrastructure development, militancy control, environmental management, and community development across the board.
“All six states in the South-South are grappling with similar challenges,” she told lawmakers. “As a commission, our focus will be to tackle the issues according to the specific needs of each state. There will be no favoritism in project allocations.”
Akpabio assured the Senate that her leadership would be guided by fairness, strategic planning, and inclusive growth.
