Aare Dele Momodu, former presidential aspirant, has declared his support for the new opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying he now considers himself part of the alliance.
Speaking on Prime Time with Arise TV on Wednesday, Momodu expressed excitement over the formal unveiling of the coalition earlier in the day, noting that it signals a coordinated effort to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
He said: “I have always been a fan of political parties, whether I join them or not. In principle, I consider myself as a member of that coalition.”
Momodu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hinted at his disengagement from the party, saying he had emotionally and ideologically moved on.
“I wrote two weeks ago that my soul has already left PDP, and a lot of people misconstrued that to mean I was another one that would join APC. But I will never have business with APC,” he said.
He described the emergence of the coalition as a reflection of deep frustration within the political class, especially among those disillusioned by developments in their former parties.
“I was surprised to see the people I saw join the coalition; it is out of deep frustration. 99.9% of those in the coalition meeting have pledged to join the ADC,” he said.
