The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has officially called off the industrial action it embarked upon in March 2025.
In a directive issued to its members on Tuesday, the union instructed all striking teachers across the FCT to return to their duty posts starting Wednesday, July 9.
The strike, which lasted over four months, had disrupted academic activities in public primary and secondary schools across the capital territory.
While the NUT did not disclose full details of the agreement that led to the suspension, sources within the union revealed that significant progress was made in addressing the teachers’ demands, which included unpaid allowances and improvement in teaching conditions.
