The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an intensive investigation into the alleged misappropriation of $2.96 billion allocated for the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s refineries, with particular focus on former Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Refinery, Ibrahim Onoja.
According to investigative journalist Jackson Ude, who made the revelation via his verified X page, a staggering sum of ₦80 billion has reportedly been traced to personal accounts linked to Onoja.
The funds, originally meant for critical infrastructure upgrades under the “contract reimbursable” framework, were allegedly diverted under Onoja’s watch.
