It looks like the beef is finally squashed between Nigerian music stars Reekado Banks and Wizkid. This is five years after their infamous public clash during the #EndSARS protests.

In a recent interview on The Esther Show, Reekado Banks opened up about the long-awaited reconciliation, revealing that Wizkid recently visited his restaurant and expressed regret over the way he handled their fallout in October 2020.

Back in 2020, during the height of the #EndSARS movement, when Nigerians across the country were protesting police brutality, Reekado Banks had announced the release of his collaborative single with Wizkid, titled “Omo Olomo.”

But what should’ve been a celebration of music turned into a public embarrassment when Wizkid lashed out at him on social media, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal.” The tweets shocked fans and left the internet buzzing for days.

At the time, Wizkid was vocal about postponing music releases out of respect for the ongoing protests, but many felt his reaction to Reekado was harsh and uncalled for.

Now, years later, Reekado is shedding light on what really happened behind the scenes. Reekado revealed:

“It was my management that insisted on releasing the song at that time.”

“I was actually opposed to it. But they insisted and went ahead.”

According to him, the dust finally settled when Wizkid recently stopped by his restaurant to talk. The Starboy boss reportedly admitted that he went too far and even reflected on his strained behaviour toward others in the industry, including Don Jazzy. Reekado shared:

“He came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it. He said he shouldn’t have gone that route.”

Perhaps the most touching part of their conversation was when Wizkid pointed out that both of them, along with Don Jazzy, had lost their mothers recently, and that shared grief gave him a new perspective. Reekardo concluded:

“He mentioned that we are three people in the game who recently lost our moms. And he feels sorry about that time. So, we’re good now.”
