President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Engr. Farouk Ahmed, the Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), on the occasion of his birthday.
In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President lauded Engr. Ahmed for his pivotal role in reforming Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry.
“As the pioneer head of NMDPRA, Engr. Ahmed has been instrumental in stabilising Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector,” the statement read. “He ensured fuel availability following the removal of subsidies, eliminated persistent fuel queues, and laid the foundation for a more transparent, competitive, and consumer-focused energy market.”
President Tinubu described Engr. Ahmed as a “steady hand in a transformative era for Nigeria’s energy industry,” acknowledging his service as critical to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President wished the NMDPRA chief continued strength, wisdom, and good health as he continues to shape policy and regulatory frameworks in one of the country’s most vital sectors.
Engr. Ahmed, who assumed leadership of the NMDPRA at its inception, has overseen key reforms in Nigeria’s petroleum downstream and midstream sectors, including the shift towards deregulation and private sector participation.
The celebratory message comes amid a broader government effort to drive efficiency, transparency, and private investment across Nigeria’s energy value chain.
