Nigerian comedian and actor, Seyi Law, has fired back at social media influencer Tunde Ednut, accusing him of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his image due to political differences.
In a strongly worded post shared via his verified X page, Seyi Law reaffirmed that everyone has a right to support Peter Obi or any candidate of their choice. However, he condemned the sanctimonious attitude of those who insult or malign others for exercising their constitutionally guaranteed political rights.
“It is your right to support PETER OBI, but to feel that you are holier than others for making their own choice as a constitutionally given right is stupidity.”
He took direct aim at Tunde Ednut, accusing him of orchestrating online attacks against him simply because of his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu:
“Tunde Ednut for working hard to tarnish my image. Iran e kan o ni fese rin.”
Seyi Law also used Yoruba proverbs and expressions to deliver a culturally rooted warning:
“Iran igbin kan o kin fese rin… Bejo se n faya tomotomo to n sinto, la ma ri nile e.”
(Translation: “The lineage of the snail does not walk on foot… The way the fire burns gently through the child playing with embers, that’s how we shall see it in your household.”)
His post, laced with frustration and defiance, appears to be in response to relentless social media criticism and alleged coordinated efforts by influencers to discredit him for backing the current administration.
This has sparked intense debate online, with supporters from various political camps weighing in on issues of tolerance, political expression, and cyberbullying in Nigeria’s digital public space.
