Controversial activist and media personality, Charly Boy, popularly known as Area Fada, has taken to his verified X page to react to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, issuing a stinging commentary on leadership, accountability, and karma in Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a strongly worded post titled “One down, many to go,” Area Fada likened Buhari’s passing to past moments of public jubilation following the demise of authoritarian leaders, referencing the spontaneous celebrations that occurred when General Sani Abacha died in 1998.
“Anytime a tyrant dies, there is always jubilation. People are happy that their tormentor who almost looked invincible has kpaied,” he wrote.
He also criticized what he described as a recurring trend of Nigerian leaders seeking medical attention and eventually dying abroad, far from the public institutions they presided over.
“Some of the ruiners of Nigeria run to foreign land to die. Not in the hospitals they left to rot. Not among the people they claimed to serve,” he added. “But in the comfort of a foreign land, far from the chaos they created.”
Area Fada warned other political leaders to see Buhari’s death as a sign of divine accountability.
“Let this be a warning to the rest of them: the people may be quiet, but karma is not sleeping,” he posted. “Let them fly to London, but you can’t fly from truth.”
His post concluded with a powerful message to Nigeria’s political elite:
“We the citizens of Nigeria have the last word.”
The statement has since gone viral, sparking heated debate across social media platforms, with some praising Area Fada’s candour and others condemning his timing and tone.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to be buried on Tuesday in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, following his death in London on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
