In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive, the State House has officially opened a condolence register in honour of the immediate past President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
The register was opened on Wednesday at the administrative building of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi, led the tribute by signing the register.
In a heartfelt message, Mr. Fashedemi described the late Buhari as a visionary leader, an elder statesman, and a man of “unwavering commitment to national duty.”
“He was a great man, totally focused on nation building and public service. His life’s work was driven by integrity, sacrifice, and patriotism,” Fashedemi said.
The development is part of a nationwide tribute directive by President Tinubu, instructing all Federal Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs)and Nigerian embassies and missions abroad to open condolence registers for the public to pay their final respects to the former leader.
In an official statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, the permanent secretary also prayed for divine mercy and eternal rest for the late president.
President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria as a former Head of State and twice-elected civilian president.
