The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has pledged to personally engage with retired police officers currently protesting over inadequate retirement benefits.

The assurance was relayed by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, who met with the retirees and disclosed that arrangements had been made for the IGP to meet them at the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja.

However, the peaceful protest has come under threat as some individuals reportedly tried to hijack the demonstration for disruptive purposes. These elements have been accused of discouraging dialogue and encouraging confrontation.

The Nigeria Police Force has urged genuine stakeholders among the retirees to remain peaceful and law-abiding. It reiterated the IGP’s commitment to addressing their concerns constructively and with respect.
