BREAKING: Police Extradite ‘Killaboi’ to Nigeria Over 2023 Murder of Augusta Onuwabhagbe

Multiple Abductions Rock Kogi State, Several Victims Rescued as Police Launch Manhunt

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the successful extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria to face charges related to the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.

The suspect, who had been on the run since July 2023, arrived in Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday following coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and Qatari authorities.

According to the police, Nnayereugo is accused of murdering 21-year-old Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. After the alleged crime, he fled the country and later released a video online purportedly confessing to the murder — a move investigators described as a diversion tactic.

Following a petition by the victim’s family, dated September 29, 2024, the case was assigned to INTERPOL NCB Abuja. On October 13, 2023, Nnayereugo was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and a Red Notice was issued.

He was briefly arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under the alias Kanu Princeton Samuel on October 20, 2023, but escaped custody during a prison break on November 26, 2023. Further intelligence traced his movements across multiple countries using fake identities, including his final destination in Qatar under the name Toure Abdoulaye, using a fraudulent Guinean passport.

In February 2025, Qatari authorities, acting on biometric data provided by INTERPOL, apprehended the suspect. A formal extradition request was submitted by the Federal Ministry of Justice, and following approval from Qatar’s judiciary, Nnayereugo was returned to Nigeria to face prosecution.
