Defence Ministers, Chief of Defence Staff Visit Frontline Troops in Borno, Reaffirm Commitment to Security

The Ministers of Defence, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru and Dr. Bello Matawalle, alongside the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, visited frontline troops in Nigeria’s North East on Saturday, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening security efforts in the region.

Speaking at the Borno State Government House, Alhaji Badaru stated that the visit aimed to assess the security situation firsthand and collaborate with the state leadership on strategies to enhance stability. He assured residents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to addressing all security challenges in Borno and across Nigeria.

In his remarks, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, expressed appreciation for the high-profile visit and reiterated the state’s unwavering support for the Federal Government and the Armed Forces. Governor Zulum appealed for increased manpower and equipment for Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) and emphasized the need to clear Lake Chad to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The delegation also visited the Headquarters of the Theatre Command OPHK, where the outgoing Theatre Commander, Major General Waidi Shaibu, briefed them on operational activities, successes, and ongoing challenges. Speaking on behalf of the ministers, the CDS commended the troops’ dedication and urged them to intensify their efforts to secure lasting peace in the region.

Additionally, the Defence Minister addressed soldiers of the 212 Battalion in Maiduguri, conveying President Tinubu’s gratitude and assuring them of the government’s resolve to fulfill all operational and logistical requirements essential for their success.. CONTINUE READING
