Tinubu to Visit Benue Wednesday, Sympathizes With Victims of Violence

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy with the people of Benue State over the recent wave of violent attacks that have claimed dozens of lives. He also announced plans to visit the state on Wednesday as part of efforts to assess the situation firsthand and strengthen peace-building initiatives.

“I sympathize with the Benue people. I have spoken to the governor; the leadership and the people of Benue should accept our condolences and try hard, very consciously, to maintain peace and harmony among themselves,” the President said.

The visit, expected to include high-level security briefings and engagements with community leaders, comes amid mounting calls for federal intervention following weeks of deadly clashes between herders and farmers.

President Tinubu had earlier directed security chiefs to intensify operations to restore law and order in the troubled state and urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to initiate reconciliation meetings among affected groups.

The President’s visit underscores the urgency the federal government places on ending the bloodshed and fostering lasting peace in Benue and other conflict-prone regions.
