VP Shettima Welcomes Gov Umo Eno to APC at Grand Rally in Uyo

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a high-profile political rally held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where Governor Umo Eno was formally welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event, which drew a massive crowd, was hosted by Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio and the APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.

Shettima, who delivered the President’s message, described Governor Eno’s defection as “a major boost” for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He commended the governor’s decision as a “step in the right direction for national unity and development.”

Also in attendance were top party figures including the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who led a delegation of 18 APC governors to the ceremony.

Party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across the country converged on the stadium to witness the symbolic moment, which signals a significant shift in Akwa Ibom’s political alignment.

Governor Eno, in his remarks, thanked party leaders for their warm reception and pledged to align his administration’s vision with the progressive ideals of the APC.

The rally is seen by political observers as a major win for the APC in the South-South region, traditionally dominated by the opposition.
