More Governors Are Coming to Join APC After Umo Eno – Senate President Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed that following the recent defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), more South-South governors are expected to join the ruling party.

Speaking during a high-profile political gathering in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday, Akpabio declared:

“After Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, the Governor of Rivers will join the APC; then, after him, the Governor of Bayelsa State will also join.”

The Senate President’s bold pronouncement signals a potential political realignment in the oil-rich region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Umo Eno’s official defection to the APC was celebrated at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, with Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and a host of party stalwarts in attendance.

If Akpabio’s predictions come true, the APC may gain significant traction in a zone traditionally dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

As of press time, neither the governors of Rivers nor Bayelsa have publicly reacted to the statement.
