Ronald Araujo has sparked fresh uncertainty around his future at Barcelona, hinting that the club could push him out during the summer transfer window, according to Sportskeeda.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan defender, long seen as one of Barça’s most valuable assets, was approached by Mundo Deportivo outside the club’s training ground and asked if he would be staying. His brief but telling response — “For me, yes” — has been interpreted as a sign that his future may not be entirely in his own hands.
Araujo’s situation is further complicated by the activation of a €60 million release clause, valid from July 1 to July 15, which has drawn interest from top European clubs. According to reports, Juventus are preparing an offer in the region of €25–30 million, though it remains well below the buyout figure. Their new manager Igor Tudor is reportedly keen to bring Araujo to Turin.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are stacked in central defence, with Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez emerging as manager Hansi Flick’s preferred pairing. Araujo missed the first half of last season through injury and struggled to regain a regular starting role upon his return, adding to speculation that the Catalan giants may look to cash in.
Despite returning to preseason training early — perhaps to prove his commitment — Araujo appears to be facing a summer of uncertainty. Given Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles, selling the high-value center-back could provide much-needed funds, especially as the club chases reinforcements elsewhere.
The developments come as Barcelona also face disappointment in their pursuit of Luis Díaz, with Bayern Munich now frontrunners for the Colombian winger’s signature. The Catalan club’s limited financial flexibility may ultimately shape both their incoming and outgoing transfer business in the coming weeks.
