The Nigeria Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, have arrived in London to accompany the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria for burial.
The Nigerian delegation was received at the airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who were already in the UK ahead of the repatriation of the late president’s body.
Former President Buhari passed away on Sunday in London. In line with Islamic rites and his personal wishes, he will be laid to rest in Daura, Katsina State, his hometown.
Preparations are underway for a state burial in accordance with national honours. Dignitaries from across Nigeria and the international community are expected to pay their final respects.
