The body of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has departed London for Daura, his hometown in Katsina State, where he will be laid to rest today, in line with Islamic rites.
A video shared by Aisha Buhari on TikTok shows the moment Buhariβs remains were transported from a London facility, accompanied by top Nigerian officials including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar.
Also present was Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who joined the delegation to escort the former presidentβs body back to Nigerian soil.
Buhari, who served as Nigeriaβs civilian president from 2015 to 2023, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
Burial arrangements are underway in Daura, where family members, dignitaries, political leaders, and members of the public are expected to gather for final prayers and internment.
