Prominent Nigerian dignitaries have begun arriving in Daura, Katsina State, ahead of the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, scheduled for Tuesday, July 15.
Among those already in attendance are former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, and former Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
The late presidentβs Daura residence has seen a steady flow of guests, including former and serving government officials, traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic community, paying their respects to the late statesman.
Security has been heightened in and around the residence and major roads leading to the burial venue, as thousands are expected to witness the final rites.
President Buhari passed away on Sunday after a long illness and is expected to be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
