Troops of Operation FANSAR YANMA have eliminated a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Bello Kaura, during a military operation in Goburawar Dawan Jiya village, Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Military sources disclosed to OndoPress that the raid, part of a sustained weeklong offensive, also resulted in the death of several of Kaura’s fighters. The operation targeted a known bandit hideout following extended surveillance and intelligence coordination.
Kachalla Bello Kaura, according to security reports, was a high-profile terror figure linked to numerous attacks across Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto States. He was reportedly affiliated with the terror group Ansaruddin and is believed to have received training in the use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) within the Bagega Forest and the Gando Game Reserve.
Born in Sunke village, Anka LGA, Kaura was the younger brother of the late Kachalla Alhaji Shadari, a notorious bandit kingpin killed by security forces in January 2023 during an operation in the Sunke Forest. Following Shadari’s death, Kaura took over leadership of the group and allegedly continued to orchestrate violent attacks in Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi LGAs of Zamfara, as well as cross-border operations into Kebbi and Sokoto States.
A security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the latest operation dealt a “significant blow” to the terror network operating in the region.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal networks in the North West and urged residents to assist ongoing efforts by providing timely and actionable intelligence.
