The Federal Ministry of Education has commenced the first phase of direct financial disbursements under the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Initiative, marking a major milestone in the implementation of the programme.

According to the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who announced the development on his verified X page, over 42,000 fully registered trainees across the country have now received their monthly ₦22,500 stipend meant for upkeep and transportation.

Dr. Alausa added that the Ministry has also completed payments to more than 600 accredited independent training centres offering skills development programmes nationwide. He noted that this first tranche of payments demonstrates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youth through practical, job-creating skills, in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Since May, the initiative has moved swiftly from registration to hands-on training. These timely disbursements will keep the momentum strong,” he stated.

Describing TVET as “Renewed Hope in action,” the Minister assured that additional rounds of payments will follow, as the Federal Government continues to invest in skills that promote employability, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.

The TVET initiative is designed to support young Nigerians with targeted vocational training, financial support, and practical knowledge aimed at reducing unemployment and improving national productivity.
