BREAKING: H’Court Permits Ngige to Retain EFCC Bail, Demands Federal Director as Surety
The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gwarinpa, Abuja, on Thursday permitted former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, to continue enjoying the administrative bail earlier granted to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The ruling was delivered by Justice Maryam Hassan, who considered a bail application filed and argued on behalf of Ngige by his lead counsel, Patrick Ikwueto (SAN).
Justice Hassan ordered the former minister to produce a surety who must be a Federal Government director and the owner of a landed property.
The surety is also required to deposit the title documents of the property and surrender his travel documents to the court, pending the retrieval of Ngige’s own international passport.
The EFCC had earlier granted Ngige bail on self-recognition and directed him to submit his travel documents to the Commission, in addition to providing one surety.
