The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is set to commence ward-level enrolment for the National Identification Number across the country.

In a statement, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Kayode Adegoke, says the exercise begins on February 16, 2026, in line with the presidential directive to take NIN registration to the grassroots.

The statement explains that the enrolment is free of charge and is aimed at registering all Nigerians and legal residents, including children, into the National Identity Database.

NIMC notes that the initiative is designed to decentralise services, improve accessibility, and reduce the burden of travel for citizens seeking registration.
