Buba Galadima Alleges Political Motive Behind Claims on Kwankwaso
A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has accused Arise News, ThisDay Newspaper, and certain unnamed politicians of being complicit in what he described as the alleged listing of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso by the United States on a terrorism watchlist.
Galadima dismissed the claims as politically motivated, arguing that Kwankwaso’s political history contradicts such allegations.
According to him, Kwankwaso did not implement Sharia law “according to the dictates of Sharia,” which he said contributed to his political defeat at the time and paved the way for Ibrahim Shekarau to emerge as Governor of Kano.
“How can anybody accuse Kwankwaso, who lost during the battle over Sharia? What about those who started it? This is just politics being played by people who fear Kwankwaso running for president or vice president of Nigeria, so they have to eliminate him,” Galadima stated.
The allegation has sparked debate within political circles, though there has been no official confirmation from U.S.
authorities regarding any such watchlist designation.
As of the time of this report, the media organizations mentioned have not publicly responded to the claims.
Observers note that the development adds to the growing political tension ahead of future electoral contests.
