Katsina Governor Inducts 1,020 New Health Workers, Releases Over ₦3 Billion for Nutrition Programmes
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, today inducted 1,020 newly recruited frontline healthcare workers while announcing the release of over ₦3 billion for nutrition programmes targeting women, children, and vulnerable groups.
The induction ceremony took place at the Local Government Service Commission Conference Hall, where the governor personally welcomed the new recruits into the state civil service. These health workers will be deployed across Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.
Governor Radda described the recruitment as transparent and merit-based, with more than 75% of the inductees previously serving as casual health workers rewarding their long-standing loyalty, dedication, and years of service to the state.
The governor noted that 268 PHCs have been upgraded with modern medical equipment, improved water and sanitation facilities, and tricycle ambulances. The administration’s goal remains to ensure every one of the state’s 361 wards has a fully functional Level 2 PHC.
He said that the ₦3 billion+ allocation for nutrition programmes forms part of broader efforts to combat malnutrition and improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable populations.
Addressing the newly inducted workers, Governor Radda said: “You are now the face of healthcare in your communities. Serve with discipline, compassion, and professionalism. Government will continue to support your training and welfare.
“A healthy population is the backbone of development, and we will not relent in building a stronger, more responsive healthcare system for Katsina State.”
