Florida Legislature Approves Renaming Palm Beach Airport for Trump

Florida lawmakers has just approved renaming Palm Beach International Airport after US President Donald Trump, sending the bill to Governor Ron DeSantis who is expected to sign it.

Republicans say it’s a fitting tribute since Trump lives nearby at Mar-a-Lago, but Democrats question the estimated $5.5 million rebranding cost that taxpayers will cover.

The situation got more complicated when the Trump Organization filed trademarks for the airport name around the same time the bill moved forward, though the company quickly promised Trump “will not receive any royalty, licensing fee, or financial consideration whatsoever,” saying they’re just protecting his name from being exploited.
