At least four people have been killed after the United States and Israel carried out overnight airstrikes on oil facilities in and around Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Saturday evening, according to Iranian officials.

The strikes targeted five sites, including four oil depots and a petroleum products transport centre in Tehran and the nearby Alborz province.

Keramat Veyskarami, CEO of Iran’s National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, told state television that the facilities were damaged in the attack but that the resulting fires were brought under control. He said the victims included oil facility personnel, among them two tanker drivers.

Smoke from the overnight explosions reportedly hung over parts of the Iranian capital as residents woke to the smell of burning fuel.

The strikes come amid an escalating conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Officials say Iran still has sufficient fuel reserves despite the damage to the depots, while tensions continue to rise across the Middle East following the latest wave of attacks. See More. .
