President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reflected on his decision to sign Nigeria’s Electoral Act, emphasizing that his commitment to democratic principles and national unity guided the move.

Speaking during a conference organized by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the president said, ““I’m a die-hard Democrat, and I follow that belief wholeheartedly, committed to a united country, Nigeria.

That principle and philosophy will live and d+e with me. That I have signed the Electoral Act, I have no choice.”

According to him, the Electoral Act had already received overwhelming support from the National Assembly of Nigeria, leaving him with little choice but to uphold the rule of law and the principle of democracy.

Tinubu stressed that his long-standing political philosophy is rooted in building a united Nigeria and respecting institutions that strengthen the country’s democratic system.

He added, “I don’t want to throw the country into turmoil and there was an overwhelming majority by the nation assembly that passed the law.

So I submitted myself to the principle of democracy which is the rule of law and I signed. The rest is history.”See more, details. .
