The Ekiti State Government has announced plans to advance the digitalisation of healthcare services in a bid to improve service delivery and strengthen the state’s health system.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, disclosed this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of a 35 Member Technical Working Group on Digital Health.

Dr Filani said, “the initiative is aimed at aligning the state with Nigeria’s national digital health architecture and improving access to quality healthcare for residents”.

According to him, the digitalisation drive will integrate electronic medical records, health registries and data exchange platforms, enabling healthcare providers to securely access patients’ medical information when needed.

He noted that some health facilities in the state already operate electronic medical record systems, adding that the new move will further strengthen data management and support evidence-based decision-making in the health sector.

The commissioner further pointed out that the newly inaugurated technical working group will collaborate with government institutions, private health providers and development partners to ensure effective implementation of the digital health initiative across the state.
